Applied Ethology Research Group Focus Areas
Ethology is the study of animal behaviour, its causation and function. Our research group is specifically interested in the study of animal behaviour as it relates to animal welfare and best management practices within agricultural systems.
The Applied Ethology Research Group works with a variety of domestic animal species primarily focused on the use of behaviour biometrics as part of precision agriculture and automated technologies, novel phenotyping of behaviour and welfare traits, the development and comparison of welfare assessment methods, housing design and animal management strategies, and science-based animal welfare standards.
